How can we set our adolescent clients up for success? The answer is actually quite simple. By following the interests and motivation of all of our clients, we can develop meaningful, reasonable, and life changing goals that will impact our adolescents from middle school and beyond. Join this webinar to learn about how your role of BCBA is different, yet equally as important to the future success of all clients beyond elementary school age, and what you can do to inspire and create meaningful opportunities that will last a lifetime.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about the important differences of working with adolescent and transition aged clients
  2. Determine how to create meaningful goals for adolescent aged clients that will establish more opportunities for their future
  3. Recognize how to adjust and respond to failed attempts while working on life-long goals

About the Presenter

Dr. Abbey George completed her Ph.D. at University of Washington in 2019 while directing the University of Washington Employment Program (UWEP), a supported employment program for adults with disabilities. During her time there, Dr. George worked on embedding Applied Behavior Analytic Practices within work-settings to encourage and support better employment outcomes for clients and staff. Dr. George has owned her own private practice working directly with clients and their families, helping identify personal goals and create pathways for achievement. Through this work and beyond, Dr. George has found passion and joy sharing simple practices and strategies for working with young adults and adults on the spectrum, while navigating the subtle complexities and challenges that come with transitioning into adulthood in schools, employment settings, supported living, and beyond.

This course is geared toward people working mostly in the school environment with people on the autism spectrum. The topics are good and related to providing effective interventions and productive living but are more general in nature.

This was a great training on how we can better support neurodivergent individuals in the workplace and prepare youth sooner rather than later to obtain meaningful employment. Thank you Abbey for sharing your passion and knowledge about workforce training and this is one that I believe more employers need to take so they aren't missing out on the pool of talent that neurodivergent individuals bring to the workforce.

This course provided a wonderful insight on the obstacles neurodivergent individuals will have after high school and beyond. Although I work with younger individuals, this has made me think of the early skills development I can do so that they are ready before high school to make an easy transition to work life.

It was very informative. Is there a chance you can post a checklist at the end that can be downloadable

Very informative and enjoyed all of the content to better reach our clients early as they continue to grow. I do wish this training was more conscious of time as it went over by 20min.
